Patient Protect is a cloud compliance platform for independent practices — dental, medical, behavioral health, chiropractic, and more — that goes well beyond the assessment: an SRA wizard that feeds a compliance task queue, staff training, ongoing monitoring, a breach simulator, secure messaging, and digital patient forms. Pricing is published — $39/month for the core tier, $99/month for everything — with a 14-day trial (card required) and no long-term contracts.
Where Patient Protect genuinely shines
Credit where it’s due, in three places. They publish their prices — still rare in this category. Their free surface is genuinely generous: a suite of no-login tools anyone can use, including a quick risk check and free training modules, with no email gate in front. And they’re unusually transparent about their own security architecture, including the honest note that their team’s certifications aren’t platform certifications. If what you want is operational tooling — the messaging, the forms, the monitoring — running in one subscription, that breadth is real and we don’t attempt it.
How HIPAAPath differs
The load-bearing difference is architectural. Patient Protect is a platform your practice’s compliance data lives in — cloud-hosted, under a business-associate agreement they sign with you, which is the standard, legitimate way to build a platform like theirs. HIPAAPath is built the other way around: your assessment answers stay in your browser and never reach our servers, and the documents you generate download to wherever you keep your practice’s files. One consequence: your answers and documents aren’t ours to lose, and they stay yours to keep — including if you stop paying us, or we disappear.
The shape differs too: HIPAAPath is a guided plain-English walkthrough that ends in a Security Manual — documentation, not a dashboard — and the full assessment is free to complete, with the paid pieces one-time or annual ($99 Insurance-Ready Summary; $299/yr Founding Member) rather than monthly.
